SATURDAY 29th JUNE 2019

7.30pm

EASTBOURNE RAFA CLUB

Wish Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4NX   (map link)

29th June is Armed Forces Day, and to mark the event we are hosting a Race Night in conjunction with the Eastbourne Branch of the Royal British Legion, and the local Cadet forces.

A Race Night is a fun and exciting evening with all the fun of a day at the races!  Have a small-stakes flutter on a horse from the programme, then cheer it on in a filmed race. All the films are drawn at complete random on the night, so this is a game of pure chance- no odds, studying form or nobbling horses can help you!   There will be hot food available beforehand, and a raffle during the interval. All welcome!

A HUGE thank you!

A massive thank you to those who came along to today's "Race Afternoon" at the RAFA Club, raising money for the Club and for the RAFA Wings Appeal.

A well attended and fun afternoon, coupled with the Club's grand raffle (with prizes generously donated by the Norway Lodge of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes) saw us raise over £150.  We will definitely be back for another daylight event!

Our last race night of 2018 will be raising money for the fantastic Eastbourne Shed project. Managed by Age Concern Eastbourne, the shed recognises that often in older age many men and women relocate to smaller accommodation and lose out on their garden shed or workshop.

The Eastbourne Shed Project provides a place where people aged 50+ can experience the joy and fun of pottering about in a shed, but doing it with like-minded people, supplying good company. Shedders are involved in woodworking, wood turning, refurbishing old tools and machines, personal projects and community projects.

Lots more information about the Eastbourne Shed project at their website- click here for more!

EASTBOURNE RAFA CLUB

Wish Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4NX   (map link)

Our very own Lisa Gillette is undertaking a number of projects to raise money for the excellent Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity.
Nordoff Robbins is the largest independent music therapy charity in the UK, dedicated to changing the lives of vulnerable and isolated people. It supports thousands of people through its own centres and by working in partnership with a wide range of organisations including care homes, schools and hospitals.
Music therapy is a specialist use of music that aims to facilitate physical and emotional wellbeing, and to promote the development and retention of key communication skills. A wide range of instruments can be used in music therapy, including the voice, and the music created is often improvised. Music therapists support people to develop their own ways of being musical in order to explore their potential and connect with the world around them.
